Customer Service Engineer

We are now looking to fill this permanent position and for the right candidate to be based within a commutable distance to Chippenham.

HUBER Technology is an “Investors in People” Gold company which specialises in environmental engineering throughout the world, and with a UK operation based in Chippenham focused on delivering wastewater treatment solutions for the UK water industry. 

Reporting to the Regional Field Manager, the right candidate will be responsible to generate, promote and increase sales of the HUBER After Sales Service as well as to generate new customers whilst retaining existing customer relationships for future business for the Southern part of the UK.

The role requires a candidate with a good Mechanical/Electrical Engineering background, ideally qualified to a HNC level or equivalent, who possesses the commercial acumen and drive to successfully manage the strategic and operational aspects of this position. The right candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will enjoy working closely and professionally with internal and external customers.

Your core responsibilities are as follows:

  • Expedite service jobs on time, within budget and invoice customers promptly.
  • Attend sites to inspect HUBER machines and to provide service inspection reports and quotations/service proposals.
  • Respond to customer enquiries promptly in relation to HUBER Technology Solutions and maintain records accordingly.
  • Proactively follow up quotations to ensure that HUBER Technology is best place to obtain the order.
  • Take an active role in promoting HUBER Technology’s solutions to existing and new customers with an aim to support the Regional Field Manager & Area Sales Manager on sales of new equipment and installations.
  • Where appropriate to develop aftersales solutions to the customer in relation to ancillary equipment where value to the customer and HUBER Technology is apparent.
  • Ensure you are fully aware of and adhere to the Procurement Limits set by the Company.
  • Identify the need and secure authorisation from the Regional Field Manager to hire temporary staff/outsource activities to overcome capacity issues.
  • Monitor and authorise overtime for service, installation and commissioning work in support of your Regional Field Manager.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to customer complaints.
  • Liaise regularly with the Field Operations Manager on current and future business developments with your region.
  • Be proactive in identifying ways to improve and correct activities in the department.
  • Book any accommodation where applicable for site activities in your region.
  • Control and maintain stock and project materials effectively at your regional depot.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s quality management system.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s health & safety procedures.
  • To provide regional support to the Sales and Projects Department through ownership of regional pricing and selected aspects of project planning and delivery where required.
  • Use all required risk control measures, including personal protective equipment, at all relevant times.

Your profile:

  • You ideally will have completed a formal qualification in a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • You can demonstrate a practical approach to engineering to develop the right solution that meets customer requirements.
  • You will have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • You will enjoy the detail of technical aspects as well as commercial aspects of this role.
  • You will ideally have gained experience in a dynamic engineering and client interfacing environment and are able to work on multiple projects to a given deadline.
  • You will enjoy working with a variety of people and you are confident in your ability to build relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • You need to be conversant with an internal ERP system after a period of training.
  • You are eligible to work in the UK.

As a successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate initiative and diligence towards detail whilst managing multiple priorities. The role requires making the right decision that supports company guidelines effectively and quickly to achieve quality results.

A clean driving licence is vital to the role.
